Rosie Pino’s story is the American Dream in action. Rosie was born in the Bronx to blue-collar immigrant parents from Ecuador and raised in New Jersey by a single mother who instilled in her the importance of working hard and believing in yourself.
Rosie was a teen mom and high school dropout who refused to let her circumstances define her. She earned her GED and graduated from Rutgers with a degree in finance, all while working multiple jobs to support her young family. After graduating, she earned a highly coveted job at the U.S. Department of the Treasury as a bank examiner.
A public servant at heart, Rosie wanted to give back and serve her community. Recalling the importance that education played in her own life, Rosie decided to run for the Clifton Board of Education. She was elected in 2013. During her two terms on the Board of Education, Rosie fought tirelessly to ensure the city provided students with a top-notch education while maintaining fiscal responsibility. She helped invest over $8 million in capital improvements and allocated more than $3 million for children’s safety.
In 2018, Rosie felt called to serve in a new capacity. Looking around and seeing how many of her fellow Clifton residents were being left behind and forgotten, she decided to run for city council. Rosie energized voters and won, making history as the first minority elected to the Clifton City Council. On the Clifton City Council, Rosie fights every day to ensure that middle and working-class New Jerseyans are seen, heard, and respected.
In addition to her work on the Clifton City Council, Rosie is deeply involved in the community. She is the founder of multiple nonprofits dedicated to creating opportunities, empowering individuals, and promoting education. Her nonprofits work to break cycles of poverty and hopelessness by collaborating with businesses and elected officials to effect real, positive change.
Rosie also volunteers with local charitable organizations. A cancer survivor herself, Rosie volunteers with the Red Hat Angels/Relay for Life, supporting cancer research and awareness efforts. She also serves on the board of the Theater League of Clifton and is a PTO President.
Rosie never planned on running for Congress, but she grew frustrated watching working-class families like hers be forgotten and failed by an increasingly extreme and out-of-touch Democratic Party. She decided to run because the people of New Jersey’s 9th District deserve a Congresswoman who will put people first and deliver real solutions for Passaic, Bergen, and Hudson counties. Rosie will be that Congresswoman.
Rosie is a problem-solver who will always put the 9th District and America First, not special interests or politics. She is a bold principled leader who will work to lower the cost of living, create good-paying jobs, keep our neighborhoods safe, and protect the American Dream.
Rosie and her husband Eric are blessed with a modern-day blended family of 11 beautiful children, two of whom are adopted from the foster care system. They reside in Clifton, where Rosie has lived for over 30 years.

I never planned on running for Congress, but the stakes are too high to sit on the sidelines. We owe it to future generations to work together to solve the problems that face us and protect the American Dream. Together, I am confident that we can make America greater than ever before.
